Charizard (Pokemon fan-art)

I`ve worked on it this Charizard model after work and weekends. It`s been a playground model for various RnD techniques I`ve tried out for reproducing believable surfacing via sculpting.
Initially I had bought some displacement maps from surface mimic and tried that, also did some custom alphas, but ultimately I had to sculpt 95% of it by hand anyway.
This has been by far the most challenging thing I`ve ever attempted but I`m so glad it`s finally done.
I would like to mention that the initial inspiration came from a concept artist named Arvalis despite me having changed the design considerably afterwards.
See the amazing and inspiring works from Arvalis here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/x3v9R

Info and Software used:

About 40-60 million triangles , mostly hand sculpted/brute forced layout in Pixologic Zbrush. Have used a bit of displacement map painting in Mudbox around the belly and around the circular areas of the smaller hand deltoids to lay in some crocodile pattern bought online. This was all re-sculpted afterwards.
